" I suppose it is because nearly all children go to school nowadays and have things arranged for them that they seem so forlornly unable to produce their own ideas. "

OUR FAVORITE PLACES AND SITES
Our favorite online sites not mentioned elsewhere on the site:
Backdoor Homeschool Tools- My homeschool blog that features local and national contests, fieldtrips, and special curriculum events. I will often update this blog with instructions on things like how to make a transcript or portfolio. Subscribe to the feed to keep updated on what is new in the homeschool world.
Kids Computer Games-Jenny has a great blog that reviews kids software. I have found some great new sites from her. She does an excellent job sorting through the good and bad of the kids online sites. Subscribe to her feed so that you get the info when she posts new reviews.
Homeschool Buyers Co-op- I have seen some great deals posted here for homeschool resources. It works by using the buying power of thousands of homeschool families, similar to the power that school districts have. It is free to join.
Steve Spanglers Science-Can I just say how much I love this site? It is free to sign up for his emails and get great videos sent to you every few weeks. They also have a great catalog if you are in the mood to buy a kit.
Here is a collection of places we visit at least once a month.
Music Class-Offered to homeschoolers at the Foothills Montessori school.
Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Botanical Garden-Discover how gourmet chocolates are made and tour a 3-acre botanical cactus garden. OK, we have never actually done the garden part :) but we check out the chocolates a lot. This takes about 30 minutes. It's free and you get a sample at the end. 458-8864
City of Henderson Parks and Recreation-we have some awesome parks in our area. Henderson offers quite a few homeschooling classes as well that are open to the whole Valley.
Tarkanian Academy-Year round basketball. Expensive, but worth it to our family.
